Mohamed Bangura, a boat captain at Tamba Kula Wharf in Aberdeen, and two others, have been charged to court for allegedly stealing an outboard boat engine. The engine is valued at Le28 million and belongs to Lanzula S. Kamara, a medical doctor. It is alleged on 25th November 2019, Bangura, Lamin Kanu and Hassan Sesay stole the engine. The three men are charged with two counts of Conspiracy and Larceny from Vessel. The boat captain, Bangura, is additionally charged with Fraudulent Conversion. In his testimony before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court on Monday 16th December 2019, the medical doctor identified Bangura as the captain of his fishing boat. He said his fishing boat had fishing nets, including a 15 horsepower outboard engine. The doctor said he was informed by the harbour master that one of the suspects had been arrested. They later went to the Marine police station at Aberdeen where they made a statement. The three men were not legally represented and were permitted to question the witness. Following the cross-examination the matter was adjourned to 9th January 2020. The accused are all on Le 50 million bail each.
