The newly appointed chairpersons of boards of key divisions under the Ministry of Energy and Power have signed performance contracts with the Minister of Energy and Power Haja Afsatu Kabba. The signing ceremony was done yesterday at the Minister’s electricity building office in Freetown.
The key divisions include Guma Valley Water Company, National Power Authority, SALWACO, Bo, Kenema Power Station and Radiation.
Addressing them, Haja Afsatu Kabba said that President Koroma has an agenda which is the Attitudinal Change campaign, encouraging them to work in that direction with the President. She stated, “I want all board members present here to perform their duties with loyalty to the state and in the interest of the nation. I have taken oath with the president to work in line with him what every other member should do,” said the Minister.
The Minister emphasized that all board members should work in that direction to actualize President Koroma’s vision for this country, urging, “I look forward towards your meaningful direction of achieving this”.
Haja Afsatu Kabba said “I believe we will all make valuable contributions to the development of Sierra Leone,” noting that there is a need for everybody to be committed and to serve with all sincerity for the betterment of this country.
The Energy and Power Minister said that, there is no difference between the cabinet and board, further stating that decisions taken in cabinet or board meetings should not be linked or disclosed to the people.
As we are heading for the one year of President Koroma’s government, Haja Kabba disclosed that her ministry has made accomplishments in the provision of water as well as electricity which has improved the lives of many homes and families.
She admonished them to use the right direction to improve the standards of living of our people, stating that we all hold obligations to our people.
The Minister called on them to ensure that no one influences them and work on effective administrations. She further informed them that no one will derail the progress of this government.
The Deputy Minister of Energy and Power, Martin Bash Kamara, underscored the importance for each board member to work in accordance with President Koroma’s vision.
He appealed to them to work hard to preserve the water and electricity that people are enjoying.
The chairperson of the different boards promised that they will work in accordance with President Koroma’s dream. They also promised to work in the best interest of the state and the interest of the nation at all times.
