Stakeholders of Bo City on Wednesday 9th January agreed that “Egba-les” or all society bushes were to be taken out of the City for “decency” as Bo Kakua PC Prince L Boima put it. But that isn’t only.
In fact, speaker upon speaker accepted that the cause of most of the lawlessness in the city was from the Egba-les or Society bushes in the heart of the town. Bo Police West Division local Unit Commander Richard S Marka in fact added that the“society bushes and the ghettoes were other sources of great insecurity in this city.”
PC Prince L Boima took on the subject to say that having society bushes right in the heart of the city was totally “appalling and we should take them out. We have to push them out. No way for that.” Pouring out his childhood experience, he said“I even never experienced Poro initiation in the town.” He went on in that stead to joke that: “all I know about societies is that they say society bush and not town. So that is why we have to take them out.”
He went on to cite the central Market, Mattru Road and New Site as places right in the middle of the city hosting society bushes which he said was totally wrong. “Eg-bale at the Central Market? No. Let’s take them out at least in the name of decency please.”
As for the ghettoes, he said that what makes the place as another possible source of lawlessness was that people go there to spend the rest of the day doing nothing. “For the whole day people spend their time at the ghettoes chatting ‘Jah will help me’. How”? he questioned.
