The yearly donation of tuition fees to four deserving pupils of Ahmadiyya Senior Secondary in Bo by four German Engineers comprising an ex-pupil, Abdul Bangura, was on Thursday June 11th disbursed at a special occasion held on the school grounds.
The fund amounting to one million four hundred thousand Leones (Le1.4million) started three years ago and has been promptly disbursed in the presence of donors including Abdul Bangura, a civil/water engineer infrastructure specialist currently working for African Development Bank Country Office, Sierra Leone, Bastian Mactin, Andre Moeller, and Helmut Geaurogl, all engineers trained from the same University in Germany.
Addressing the gathering, all four colleagues encouraged the pupils to treat their school work with the seriousness it deserves adding that only sound academic ability will bring home the necessary opportunities. They in turn recalled how all four of them came together with the view of assisting the pupils from Ahmadiyya Senior Secondary in the ongoing project which started since 2006/2007 academic year during which five SSS one pupils benefited from the scheme.
In his response school Principal Ishmael Nallo thanked the team for their concern for the academic upbringing of the pupils. The principal also reassured the visitors that the pupils will make good use of the opportunity while encouraging the pupils to always study hard, noting that the failure of any pupil will mark the end of his or her chances.
For their part, all four proud beneficiaries, Salieu Conteh, Sylvester Johnny, Bintu Jalloh and Isatu Mansaray all thanked their friends and further promised to make good use of the opportunity.
They also spoke of plans to do the same venture in the future. It is expected that the scheme will continue as planned. Climax of the occasion was the taking of group photo with their friends.
