As violence continues amongst students the President of the Multi-Religious Council for Peace and Justice, Bishop Christian Cole and members of the Child Advocacy Division of the Council visited various schools and Youth Organizations in the Western Area on“ The Day of the African Child.“
During a visit to the Daniel Sarwee Primary School at Adesanya Street, the Bishop stated that as one-time youth leader in Sierra Leone, he is shocked by the unprecedented wave of violence among youths and school children. He called upon students to be kind and gentle and to refrain from immoral and abhorrent practices. He said violence among children and youths is not part of our culture and told the young to heed the President`s call for Attitudinal Change. The Deputy Head Teacher, Mr. Kanu thanked the Bishop for his concern and courage to embark on such an exercise. Meanwhile the Council is observing the Anniversary of the African Child with a week-long activities for children countrywide to culminate with a seminar on Sunday, preceded by Muslim Prayers on the 19th and Praise and Worship at the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology (Technical Institute) Congo Cross on Sunday the 21st June at 11:00 a.m.
