The Bible Society in Sierra Leone will be launching a booklet: “The Right Use of Power” on April 13 at the British Council hall in Freetown.
The Bible Society states that it exists to serve all peoples both inside and outside the churches in the country where it exists and that it uses its resources exclusively to make available and accessible a wide range of scriptures for use by everyone.
It notes that it is aware of the national needs always in the context of the needs of the rest of the world, maintaining that Sierra Leone is alive with the operation of the July 2007 national elections and as a result there is a need for people to understand what the scripture gives about authority and the use of it. The Society points out that, “stories in the newspapers and TV are often filled with accusations of corruption and they show graphic details on the abuse of power.” The Bible Society announces that it is on this backdrop that it will be launching the booklet “the Right Use of Power,” and discloses that the book has selected the timeless truth and wisdom in the bible which is for all cultures and present them in a simple and readable way.
The Society urges that “as a Sierra Leonean or if interested in the welfare of Sierra Leone, you need to be part of this launching,” and that “everyone should get a copy of this book before going to vote on July 28th 2007”.
