The Organizing Secretary of the National Basketball Association Alhaji Haroun Sesay has disclosed that the pre season Basketball gala starts today Wednesday January 26th, 2011 at the National Stadium Basketball court.
Eight teams will participate in the gala and two games are to be played every day.
This gala is to prepare the teams for the annual league season which will start as soon as the pre-season gala ends.
Alhaji Sesay said it is going to be very competitive.
He further stated that this time around they are going to have a well structured league and after the league players would be identified for the national side.
He also stated that one of the other competitions that the association will be holding this year is the selected schools league which they were able to organize last year, adding that the one this year will be unique.
He also said they hope to have four regional basketball tournaments by bringing all the four regions together to exhibit their talents.
Alhaji Sesay further stated that they are yet to confirm which region will host the tournament.
The Organizing Secretary Alhaji Haroun Sesay disclosed that the association is currently run by an interim body and they are doing everything possible to hold an elective congress as soon as possible this year to push the association forward.
He stated that with the new executive coming onboard they hope that the sport would take a different turn in the country.
