The President of Sierra Leone Basketball Association, Joseph Nyande, has said the association is moving towards a positive direction in the coming months.

He said the recent friendly match in Guinea is part of the association’s positive movement to give the players international exposure, adding: “as an association we are looking forward to have more international matches that will put the players in good standard internationally.”

He described the Guinea friendly as a success “and just the beginning of a great movement for the association.” The chief organiser for the Guinea trip, Michael Shamsu Mustapha, has said they are trying to arrange more friendly matches, apart from basketball, for other sporting associations to have a good relationship with other countries in the sub region.

Mustapha revealed that they are looking forward to a return match with the Guineans “during our Independence Day celebration in April, in which Sierra Leone’s basketball team will go out for revenge.”
