A 23-year old barber, Santigie Sesay, has been sentenced to 20-years in Correctional Centre after pleading guilty to Wounding with Intent, at the Siaka Stevens Street High Court in Freetown on Monday 27th January 2020. On 28th August 2019, at Mount Zion, Kola Tree, in Freetown, he wounded Amadu Wurie Jalloh, and caused grievous bodily harm. He was charged under the Offences Against the Persons Act, 1861. According to the police medical form, Sesay stabbed Jalloh on the left arm where he required 16 stitches. Sesay admitted to the Police that he used a key holder to stab the victim who had provoked him. The presiding Justice, Ivan Sesay, noted stabbing was prevalent. He said considering the plea of counsel he will sentence Sesay to 20-years instead of the maximum of life imprisonment.
