To prepare for the northern region play off, the Bai Bureh Warriors FC met the East End Lions on 11 August 2019, at the Port Loko mini-stadium and defeated the current champions of the Sierra Leone Premier League by a goal to nil (1-0). The Warriors goal came in the second half of play through a mistake from Lion Fabiski in the 71st minute. Bai Bureh Warriors capitalized on the mistake to get a goal through Mohamed Mansaray (Medo Messi). The match ended peacefully as Warriors fans celebrated.

The chair of Bai Bureh Warriors, Bobson Sesay, stated the friendly match was great and thanked the management of both teams. He noted how the Lions are the best team in the country and a suitable test for the Warriors. He hopes the Warriors will soon join the Premier League. Agnes Bundu said the match was played in a jam-packed mini stadium with fans coming from far and wide.
