Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – In a remarkable show of support for women’s football, Babadi Kamara, the Executive Chairman of Bo Rangers Football Club and CEO of Leadway Trading, made a substantial donation to two female football clubs, Mena Queens Football Club in Makeni and Albitaya Queens in Kabala. The donation, comprising footballs and a financial contribution, took place on Friday, January 19, 2024, during the ongoing Women’s League.
Babadi Kamara, represented by Hon. Papa Bangura, presented 10 footballs and 25 thousand Leones to each of the two Northeast region-based teams. This act of generosity aims to empower and strengthen the participation of these clubs in the Women’s League, showcasing Kamara’s commitment to the growth of women’s football in Sierra Leone.
Notably, a similar gesture was extended to the Northwest Region Football Association (NWRFA) earlier, with a sum of twenty thousand Leones allocated for regional competitions. This reinforces Babadi Kamara’s dedication to fostering football development at both the local and regional levels.
The presentation ceremony witnessed the presence of key football stakeholders in the Northeast region, including Sheku Bilo Conteh, the Secretary General of NERFA, Sulaiman Sillah Sesay, Chairman of the Bombali District Football Association (BDFA), and Mohamed Milton Koroma, the Head of Competitions of NERFA.
Hassan ‘Zenetti’ Mansaray, CEO of Mena Queens Football Club and Head Coach of the National Senior Female team, expressed profound gratitude to Babadi Kamara for the timely and impactful donation. Coach Zenetti highlighted the crucial role these contributions play in mitigating financial challenges, particularly during extensive travels for premier league fixtures.
Continuing his support for female football, Babadi Kamara, through Hon Papa Bangura, also presented five footballs and a financial boost of twenty-five million Leones to each of the Koya Queens Football Club and Patricia Umu Football Club. This additional support underscores Kamara’s transformative influence on Sierra Leonean football, transcending gender boundaries.
