The New York/ New Jersey Branch of the Annie Walsh Old Girls Association (AWOGA) has donated cash to some older members of the Freetown Branch on Monday 17th, January 2011 at the school along Kissy Road, Freetown.
Before making the donation the President of the Old Girls Association Freetown Branch Mrs. Pamela Williams said the old girls of the New Jersey Branch have been donating cash to some of the older girls of the school who are in real need as they are not able to move to find their living that is why they are coming onboard to assist them.
She also stated that for the past years they have been making such donation and in return the older girls who are fortunate to be part of the cash donation always look up to it as part of their Christmas bonus.
She also stated that the older old girls were selected from the rest by an appointed panel and they in turn are looking for those who are in real need as they are not able to contribute to things that the younger old girls can do.
Mrs. Pamela Williams also stated that apart from the cash they are receiving from the New Jersey Branch the Freetown Branch also helps them with small funding and also gives them uniforms and a host of other things during celebrations.
Speaking to Awoko after receiving their cash the older members said they are happy to receive the money and they appreciate it so much because the other members are thinking about them.
They appealed to the old members elsewhere to emulate the New Jersey Branch in New York as things are not easy for them.
They further appealed to the present students to take their school work very seriously as they are the future leaders of the country.
