The Sierra Leone Cricket Association has given awards to deserving players and clubs in the National Cricket League season for 2007/2008.
The Sierra Leone Police Cricket Team was crowned as Champion in the league and the runners-up position went to the Asian Cricket Club; while the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces Cricket Club was on third position.
During the league, Luseni Senesie of the Sierra Leone Police has the highest aggregate run score with a total 233 runs in five innings and out twice. Main scores 113 not out and 75 not out made the national team and scored two half centuries in North West Africa Cricket Competition (NWACC).
The highest wicket taker was Lansana Lamin of the Asian cricket club with twelve wickets in 21.1 overs,123 runs conceded at an average of 5.8 runs per over.
The best all rounder in the competition was Abubakarr Kamara from the Murray Town Cricket Club with a bat scored of 180 runs in four innings at an average of 45.0 runs. Best scores 63,61,and 45 runs with the ball bowled 23.4 overs conceded 108 runs and took 5 wickets at an average of 4.6 runs and over.
The most improved player in the competition was Jacob Mansaray of the Sierra Leone Police with a score of 135 runs in five innings twice not out at an average of 45 runs and also made the national team and scored 75 runs in his debut against Ghana.
In another development about 15 players have been selected by the head coach Cyril Panda to represent Sierra Leone in the U-17 competition in Nigeria slated for November 1st -10th
Some of the players selected are Ibrahim kabia, Julius Ouee, Ibrahim Mansaray, Mohamed Alie Bangura, Emmanuel Pessima, Issa James, Onesimus Bull, Bami Williams, Adolphus Massaquoi, Brima Ansumana, Edward Marrah and Edward Senesie.
Six (6) countries are expected to participate in the competition and these would be divided into two groups.
The group matches would be on a round robin basis and the best two countries from each group would proceed into the semi-finals; with the winners of the two semis engaging in the final match.
The two losers would battle for the third place play off.
