The Association of Football Veterans has written a letter to the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) about a proposal for an amendment to SLFA’s statutes.
The letter reads: “acknowledging with great concern the deteriorating state in which our beloved game (Football) has found itself all these years, we affirm our total support and willingness to now formally declare ourselves as key stakeholders who would not sit by and watch football degenerates to such a level as we have always been willing and serviceable to our country in our hey days….”
The letter goes further, “we do accept the blame since we are also members of the Sierra Leone Football Association(SLFA),although it is unfortunate we have no voting right and not considered as part of the decision making body.
“Upon deliberation on findings, we unanimously resolved that the entire problem lies in certain clauses in the SLFA constitution that stand as white elephant which we believe must be addressed. But as spelt out in articles 29.2 and 29.5 of chapter 1V of the said constitution which we fully adhere to, we hereby sincerely attach to this letter observation and proposal for an amendment in our beloved sport
“We pray that we revisit these statutes and treat them with all purpose of sincerity. Thus we exhort article 4 in the constitution since we are all poised to defend mother Sierra Leone.”
