The police in Kailahun have reported high percentage of assaults and other related crimes, and this blame on the inadequate police personnel in the district.
According to the local unit commander, Keifala Keita, “50% of the crimes which ranges from assault and rape are mostly charged to court with the help of local authorities who want to see justice prevail”.
He said, “Kailahun is densely populated for it to be manned by inadequate police personnel.
There are series of assault cases pending further investigation by the Kailahun police but sufficient evidence to pursue the matters are big problems. As such, people are either sceptical to pursue cases related to impunity because of delay in judicial proceedings.
To help this ugly situation, the Kailahun District Security Committee has resolved that a district medical board be requested to help reduce costs per medical forms to police.
