Sierra Leone’s first mobile money transfer service, Splash mobile money transfer has appointed Sheka Forna as non- executive Chairman of Splash Sierra Leone.
Splash Sierra Leone operates on Africell, Zain and Comium networks and has 2500 subscribers countrywide. Sheka Forna is the son of the late popular politician Mohamed Sorie Forna who was executed with 14 others in 1975.
In 2004, he set up a company focusing on providing continuing education for African professionals in the United Kingdom. This business increased his interaction with Africa and heightened his desire to return to Sierra Leone.
Forna, who obtained a BA in Business Studies in the United Kingdom, has vowed to give quality services to subscribers and take the company to another level.
Splash also announced the appointment of Michael Foley as the Managing Director of Splash Sierra Leone, whilst Ben Farren is appointed Founder- Director of the company.
According to Sheka Forna, “we have just begun our national expansion and we expect to be in every Chiefdom by midyear”.
He stated that a neutral, affordable, national mobile money system will be a catalyst for the growth of the Sierra Leone economy and will empower its users to participate greatly in the economic fabric of the society.
Splash Company launched its pilot operation in Sierra Leone on September 16th 2009 and began its national roll out in February and has so far signed over 2,500 splash users.
In celebration of the country’s 49th Independence anniversary, Splash announces the Splash 4 Salone contest.
The contest will involve the awarding of 49 prizes of four million nine hundred thousand Leones to users of Splash services, plus a couple of surprises to be unveiled during the draw.
