The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has appealed to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on behalf of the U-17 team the Sierra Stars of Sierra Leone against the Baby Scorpion of the Gambia for allegedly fielding over aged players.
The three players are Bojang Ebrima, Samateh Lamin, and Kawusu Japp. Apart from the three players the other two other players that are over the age of 17 are Babucarr Janneh who was born on the 10th June 1985 a student and the other affected player is Matarr Jobe he was born on the 1st January 1990.
In response the Baby Scorpions team manager Abdoulie Bangura rejected the claims saying Sierra Leone Football Authorities (SLFA) are bitter over the defeat
“The allegations made against our players are false. We don’t cheat in any competition we enter and we will never cheat” said Bangura.
He went further that the players in question are eligible to play because they are within the age bracket and the Sierra Leone team officials want their fans to take their minds off the bitter defeat they suffered from us he said.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is yet to respond to the claim by Sierra Leone.
