The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces has concluded a three day live firing competition with 5th Brigade from the South emerging as overall winners of this year’s Skills at Arms competition.
The competition was held at the Benguema Firing Range in Waterloo from the 6th to 8th October.
Addressing officers who participated in the competition the Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. General Alfred Nelson Williams congratulated them for taking active part by demonstrating exemplary military skills.
The CDS used the opportunity to urge them to come onboard and help boost the effort of the Sierra Leone Police to curtail the unprecedented rate of armed robbery that has now become the order of the day in not only Freetown but in other parts of the country.
“The Army has been called upon to strengthen the security situation in the country in order to curtail the alarming spate of armed robbery in the country” CDS said.
“Try your utmost to support the police and work as a team to project professionalism and the image of the RSLAF in order that we have a peaceful Sierra Leone and the nation will be proud of you” the CDS said.
He wished participating teams coming from the provinces a safe return to their various destinations and further admonished them to be vigilant in maintaining the hard won peace as they go back to their various locations.
