The Secretary General for the People Movement for Democratic Change Ansu Lansana on behalf of his party warned supporters to be violence- free and law abiding. He was taking exception to the recent political upheavals in Bo, which eventually led to the painting of President Ernest Koroma’s portrait with green and orange colours. He said any purported PMDC supporter caught in an unholy and malicious act would be dealt with as an individual under the laws of Sierra Leone and not as PMDC party supporter or member.
The Secretary General was quoted to have said that “majority of the PMDC leadership comprised of legal minded people who have zero tolerance to violence.”
He said the painting of President Koroma’s portrait with green and orange colours did not indicate that the action was done by PMDC supporters because some vicious and mischievous politicians may have orchestrated such diabolic plan to implicate and throw mud on the image of the PMDC party.
He said they are aware of the recent political standoff between APC and SLPP supporters in Bo regarding the painting of the Bo Clock Tower red and the painting of President Koroma’s portrait green, but they never took sides nor were they involve in that commotion.
In a face to face interview with the Secretary General of APC, Victor Bockarie Foh, at his APC headquarters in Brookfields ,he categorically denied any knowledge of the odd development in Bo, adding that if there were any , it must have been orchestrated by some other political party opponents and not the APC.
J.J. Saffa, Secretary General of SLPP also denied knowledge of the recent political commotion in Bo, which resulted in the painting of President Koroma’s portrait with green and orange colours. He said there was no need to point accusing fingers at one another because the people know the political party which is notorious for violence and other ill political tricks.
