Life continues to be difficult for the National Coordinator Allieu Kamara and the Northern Regional Coordinator Lansana Zanto Kamara of the Attitudinal and Behavioral Change (ABC) Secretariat as the two were sent back to the Pademba Road Prisons yesterday for failing to meet their stiff bail conditions.
Philip Conteh the Executive Director of ABC, was happy to go home yesterday after spending a night at the Pademba Road Prison on Monday and spending apparently 7 hours on Tuesday in the lock up at the Law Courts building, while awaiting his bail conditions to be met. He was bailed with Le 500 Million, two sureties by one of the sons of CA Kamara Taylor.
Allieu and Zanto still failed to meet their Four Hundred Million Leones (Le 400,000,000) bail each with two sureties resident in the Western Area who must submit their title Deeds to the court.
The three who were at the Law Courts yesterday to fulfill their bail conditions were locked in the Cells in the Law Court buildings from the morning hours to the evening hours while their sureties struggled to meet the court requirements.
Like any other indictees, these three guys were remanded at the Pademba Road Prisons on Monday and brought to court in the blue “Black Maria” truck that used to convey prisoners to and from the courts.
The Executive Director of ABC Philip Conteh, Alieu Kamara and the Northern Regional Coordinator Lansana Zanto Kamara were arraigned in the High Court on Monday 31st January 2010, to answer to 17 counts charges of misappropriation of donor funds contrary to section 37(1); mismanagement of funds contrary to section 48(2) (b); Abuse of office contrary to section 42(1); abuse of position contrary to section 130 (1); obstruction of justice contrary to section 127(1)(a) of the Anti Corruption Commission Act 2008. Allieu and Zanto are expected to be in court again today to finalize their bail requirements.
