In the ongoing premier league, sponsored by Africell and organized by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Mount Aureol over the weekend escaped relegation when they played goalless with Golden Dragons at the National Stadium in Freetown.
The draw automatically gives them some points ahead of Gem Stars and Golf Leopards who they were all fighting relegation.
Mount Aureol went into the pitch well prepared and focused as they only needed a draw to remain in the premier league; a lost would have seen them back to the Division One league where they came from.
Gem Stars and Golf Leopards have been relegated as they are the two teams that are now lying bottom of the premier league table.
In the other matches played over the weekend Central Parade, who were also desperate for the championship, hopes were dashed when they were held goalless by Nepean Stars at the National Stadium. They are now in third position with 47 points with one match to go.
In the other encounter Old Edwardians were expected to host Gem Stars but the latter failed to turn up for the match and three points and three goals were awarded to Old Edwardians who now have 25 points with two matches remaining while Gem Stars now have 15 points with one match to go.
The league continues this weekend.
