Residents in Dworzack in Constituency 109 will now enjoy electricity supply from the National Power Authority (NPA) through efforts made by their Member of Parliament Hon. Julius Nye Cuffie.
Dworzack community is one of the most deprived communities in Constituency 109 in the Western Urban. The community faces challenges like bad road network, lack of water supply, electricity and proper market place.
Speaking to this Press, Hon Cuffie stated that through his personal plea, the transformer will soon be installed in the community which will provide electricity to some of the mountainous areas in the community.
He explained that a survey has been done been by NPA and JICA staff of the piece of land where the transformer will be installed .
Hon Cuffie maintained that residents in that community were suffering from electricity problem coupled with bad roads and water supply but through his intervention there have been changes in terms of tangible development.
The Member of Parliament stated that since he was elected in 2007 he succeeded in getting a project from Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) to build a multipurpose community center, which has a hall, day care, internet café and statelite dish to show football. That community center he said is first of its kind in the community.
Explaining further about his work in his constituency Hon. Cuffie disclosed that he has also secured cash for work – a contract from the National Commission for Social Action (NACSA) for the rehabilitation of feeder roads in one of the areas in the Dworzack community. Currently he said phase two of that project is going on which is the extension of the drainage facilities and the construction of the Dworzack road.
In Brookfield’s he reiterated that he has succeeded out of his own personal funding to construct a concrete foot bridge which is linking two communities. The bridge, he stated cost about Forty-Million Leones (Le 40,000,000).
Also, in Brookfields he said he has facilitated the construction of two dust bins for residents in Ogoo Lane and Willoughby Lane where people were finding it difficult to dispose of their rubbish.
Currently he revealed that he is working with Sierra Leone Bottling Company (SLBC) to construct a market for the Dworzack community which will soon commence. Hopeful before the elections tangible evidences will be seen of the market.
He admitted that the constituency lack many things like water especially in the Mountainous areas in Dworzack, New England Ville and Sorie Town. Most of these areas depend on fetching water from bore holes and water wells.
The Member of Parliament noted that he also made representation to Guma Valley Water Company for water to be available in these areas, but up till now Guma is unable to provide water.
He revealed he has made representation to the Minister of Works for the rehabilitation of the New England Ville road from Special Court to Government printing. He concluded by highlighting other development in the constituency.
Hon Cuffie declared his intention to contest for the second time again to continue with the good work he has started and to address many of the things in his constituency.
