Former Vice President Albert Joe Demby yesterday rejoined the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples’ Party (SLPP) and in the process blasted the Chiefs and elders as the main perpetrators of the problem within the party.
In his speech at the Bo Coronation field Grounds yesterday, the former PMDC supporter described the Chiefs as the architects of the division within the party, blasting “it is you the leaders, not Berewa who have split the SLPP, but God will expose you.”
Also making a u-turn from the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change is the suspended financial scribe, Sidique Janneh who openly apologised to his followers for having gone the other direction, and appealed to the flag bearer and other party faithfuls to forgive them and accept them back into their fold.
Sidique Janneh emphasized that they are offsprings of the ruling party and they have no party to associate themselves with other than the ruling party.
Addressing the gathering the ruling party Presidential flagbearer Solomon Ekuma Berewa gave a down to earth speech in which he explained at length the reason why the inhabitants of the second city should cast their vote for him in Saturdays run-off.
VP Berewa described the world as a bad place to live, but went on to say, “we have seen something again,” citing the return of old party faithfuls, and the merging of a team of four former contestants which is something to celebrate about.
He implored the voters that security was something that is paramount, stressing that burning of houses, violence and thuggery have reigned supreme unlike the first round of voting.
Violence, the VP said, has affected us a lot, but it cannot any longer, stressing home that the people of Sierra Leone have suffered a lot and they need peace, which is their right.
He took the opportunity to explain the outcome of last Sunday’s peace dialogue by President Tejan Kabbah and even read certain portions of the communiqué that was signed at the end of the meeting by himself, Ernest Koroma and President Tejan Kabbah.
