Salone Stars in Kenya over the weekend emerged as victors in a test match with Kenya’s Impala Football club with a 4-2 goal win at Don Bosco (Utume) in preparation for this weekend’s Independence Day encounter with Zambia nationals in Kenya.
Salone Stars took the lead in the second half of play in the tenth minute as a result of defensive blunder. Two penalties were also awarded to them between the 57 and 68 minute to consolidate their lead. The first penalty shot by Manius Gbories landed in the hands of the Kenyan goalie while the second in the 68th minute was scored by Foday Kargbo. Salone stars took the lead during the last ten minutes of the game, after the host had drawn level two al, before William Carew and Foday Kargbo hammered the last nails on the coffin.
Manzu (Furabay ) for Salone Stars was the man of the match serving as the supplier and engineer for all the goals from the forward line position backed by Abdul Kargbo (Deputy Consul).
Meanwhile, the officials of Salone Stars in Kenya have voted Mr. Titus Panda presently in Freetown on coaching course was Head Coach and Tenyson Williams (Action Aid) as Assistant Coach.
In another related development, the Deputy Consular of the Sierra Leone office in Kenya Abdul Kargbo on behalf of his office has formally presented eighteen sets of football jerseys of our national colors on Saturday after the friendly test match.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Sierra Leone community in Kenya, Dr. Siaka Kroma expressed thanks and appreciation to the Consul and office noting that this will go a long way in promoting solidarity, togetherness and unity among fellow compatriots.
The Chairman of Salone Stars football team Foday Kargbo called on fellow compatriots to join the team so as to marshal oneness among fellow Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora devoid of politics, tribe of region.
