SLPP supporters are set to win the Pujehun District bye-election for constituency 87 against the APC and PMDC as was the case during the past Local Council Election held on July 5 2008.
The SLPP supporters in the Pujehun District have expressed determination that their party is aiming for victory come the 10th January 2009, this remark was made as a result of the party nomination held on the 9th December 2008.
The bye-election came about as a result of a recent election petition which un-seated erstwhile MP Salieu Conteh of the PMDC from Parliament. The New Year polls will see former SLPP MP Ansu Kaikai and APC Samuel Kaikai who defected from the PMDC now represented by one Emurana Sowa lock horns for the bye-election.
APC supporters including the APC National scribe Victor Bockarie Foh who was in the district said the APC party has strong grounds in the district and is prepared and determined to win the election come polling day.
A similar assurance to win the election was made by the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) supporters in the Pujehun District and its environs. The official campaign for the January 10th bye-election starts today.
