As brewery launches star can… Under 18 banned from buying alcohol

To avoid bottle gathering inconveniencies, the Sierra Leone Brewery Limited (SLBL) over the weekend launched the Star Beer can, and managing director, Dr Mbonu declared that people under 18 “are ban from procuring, purchasing and consuming our alcoholic beverages.”
Dr John Mbonu disclosed that the 18+ imprint on the Star can advert, “is part of the company’s new policy of consumption of alcohol responsibly. All our alcohol beverages are only available to people who are above 18.
Dr Mbonu emphasized that, “in fact we are stating clearly to the public from now on if you are below 18 you should not procure, purchase or consume any of our alcoholic beverages.”
“It is part of the Heineken worldwide enjoy Heineken responsibly,” he stated.
Speaking on the quality of the Star can beer, Dr Mbonu said, “both bottle and can Star beer carry the same alcoholic volume and the same taste. Both are brew from the say ingredients under the same condition.”   Giving reasons for the can he averred that, “the can has its advantage, it is what we call one way packing. This simply means customers do not have to worry about bottles any longer as it is convenient using the can”. “We do not have the capacity currently at the SLBL to can beer, that is the reason why we are importing the Star can from Nigeria,” he said.
Dr Mbonu accentuated that, “to start canning you need to have a critical and the market here at the moment is very small for us to start canning, but on the other hand immediately the market get to that critical mass, we are surely going to install a canning plant.”
