From May 14-15,there were large turnouts of people from all walks of life to welcome Vice President Solomon Berewa and entourage to Kailahun.
This occasion was climaxed with the launching of the Kailahun District Cooperative Union by Mr Berewa with a Le50m fund.
Before he officially launched the cooperative union, he commended the people of Kailahun for their overwhelming support for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). He said, “the Le 50,000 000 micro credit is expected to reach any chiefdom in Kailahun District”, adding that such monies were aimed at bringing economic hope to the people.
Meanwhile, the leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hon. Earnest Koroma, said from the turnout he saw for the APC in Kailahun he was convinced that all what the SLPP had been saying were false.
He said in 2002, “APC was disallowed in Kailahun on the grounds that SLPP would bring development to the people there.
Hon. Earnest Koroma noted that, “Kailahun is now a permanent friend of food insecurity, blackout, poor health and abject poverty.”
He concluded that SLPP’s 11 years in power were meaningless but that if APC took over after August 11, they would address all the economic issues.
