Sierra Leonean Cyclists, Moses Sesay, Augustine Sesay, Mohamed Thorley and Suleiman Bah will be in action today Tuesday November 6th 2012 as the African Continental Cycling Championship starts in Burkina Faso.
Speaking to this medium from Burkina Faso the President of the association Winston DC Crowther who accompanied the Cyclists alongside Solomon Collier to the championship said that today the four Sierra Leonean Cyclists who will be representing the country will show case their talent as they will be competing among other top cyclists in Africa.
He also revealed that this is their first appearance in such a competition and at the end of the six days competition Sierra Leone will be ranked. That he said is why this competition is the most important one than any other international competitions we have been participating in.
It was because of ranking that Sierra Leone has not been able to be present in any of the Olympic Games. However he said with such competition there is hope that our Cyclists will represent the country in the next Olympic Games in Brazil.
President Winston Crowther also revealed that during the Competition there will also be team riding, individual time trial and host of other different races.
He also stated that the team arrived in Burkina Faso on Saturday covering 2,200 km from Freetown after the delegation left on Thursday November 1st in the afternoon. He went further to thank Mercury International for coming to their aid to make the trip a reality.
President Crowther also revealed that he will give a thousand dollars to the team if they are able to be among the first three countries at the end of the competition on Sunday November 11th 2012.
