Aiah Bona, 38, a serving personnel of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) was yesterday arraigned at the Freetown Magistrate Court No 3 on a one-count charge of attempting to incite another to commit a felony.
The charge sheet stated that on Monday 13th August 2007 in the Freetown Western Area, being a serving of the RSLAF attempted to incite a man believed by him to be one Ernest Bai Koroma to launch an armed and violent protest in the event of the defeat of the said Ernest Bai Koroma at the presidential elections in Sierra Leone. Speaking in court the accused told the court that he had been in the army for 13 and half years deployed at the 15 Battalion in Lungi.
When asked by Magistrate Bankole Shyllon whether he had a family, he replied that he was married and had two children.
Magistrate Shyllon refused him bail and he was remanded at the Pademba Road Prisons.
Lawyer Cosmo Jarret represented the state and the matter was adjourned to September 3.
