Vandi Bundeh of 54 Sumaila street in the city of Kenema has been robbed off his property worth millions of leones by armed robbers in Kenema city.
Police constable 9592 Kadie Turay attached to the media unit at the Kenema division of the Sierra Leone Police Force, made this disclosure to journalists in Kenema.
She said Bundeh came out of his house at night around 1:30am on Tuesday 2nd September 2008 to urinate. During the process of attending to the call of nature, two men dressed in black attire attacked him and put him under gun point with the order that if he shouts they will blow off his head.
Bundeh was then frog-matched into his room where a scuffle took place with the robbers resulting in the breaking down of a table in the parlour. The armed robbers reportedly took away two mobiles phones – Nokia and Samsung, two CD disc players and other valuables that they laid hands on. Armed robbery is not new in Kenema city as there have been records of armed robbery in the past.
Only last week Thursday two AK 47 riffles were discovered in a brief case at Bandama checkpoint on the outskirts of Kenema where three suspects were arrested in connection with the Arms and Ammunitions as they were trying to enter with it into Kenema city.
Some of the people who spoke to Awoko on the street of Kenema questioned who was responsible for these armed robbery as some uniformed personnel have been caught in acts of robbery.
