The youth wing of the All Peoples Congress (APC) and the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) have undertaken the cleaning of Show Avenue as their contribution to the last Saturday cleaning exercise for the month of September this year.
Speaking to the press at the cleaning site, by the Bo Kenema Power Services (BKPS) complex, the secretary of the APC/PMDC youths in Kenema Ibrahim Sorie Kamara maintained that as youths it is their responsibility to spear head development in the city of Kenema especially in the area of sanitation emphasizing that health is wealth.
He said the exercise is a continuous process aimed at ensuring that important places in the city of Kenema were well kept.
Ibrahim Sorie Kamara expressed his appreciation to the Kenema city council for providing them with working tools to undertake the cleaning exercise and called on other youths in other areas in the eastern region to copy their example.
The Health coordinator of the Kenema City Council Mohamed Nyallay commended the effort of the APC/PMDC youths in Kenema for what he described as their wise initiative, which he said, was a step in the right direction.
He said the Kenema City Council will continue to give support to the APC/PMDC youths and other youths groups in Kenema whenever they undertake similar exercise.
Mohamed Nyallay cautioned the people of Kenema not to throw rubbish on the streets and roads in the city as warning that defaulters will face the full penalty of the law.
He described the last Saturday cleaning exercise in the month of September as satisfactory.
