The National Organising Secretary of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party Alimamy Pepito Koroma has strongly warned their supporters to refrain from violence during and after the August 11 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
Addressing party supporters, stalwarts and sympathizers at the party’s headquarter in Brookfield’s Saturday morning Mr Koroma while informing supporters who had turned up in their party colours, that there was no rally planned for that day, said that that the main aim of the APC is to win the elections and not to be seen as a trouble maker.
He explained that the APC party is not a violent one, but one that caters for the grassroots, elite and middle class people.
The National Organizing Secretary noted that the party respects the advice that President Kabbah announced when talking to people of this country last week, that elections should be violence free.
He admonished supporters who are in the habit of causing trouble during party occasions, warning that anyone caught stealing, fighting or using abusive languages will be treated accordingly.
He maintained that the party is ensuring compliance with the National Electoral Commission (NEC) and the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) Code of conduct and the laws of the land. He stated that the party is working actively to alleviate tensions and mitigate violence before, during and after the elections.
The Organizing Secretary stated that any APC supporters intimidated during the party rallies or any activities should make a report to the party welfare unit and the matter will be taken to the PPRC and to the police.
Koroma opined that the party is working with the Police to handle any supporters who go against the rules and regulations of NEC and the PPRC to ensure that the elections is done successfully and free from violence.
