The All Peoples Congress (APC) Publicity Secretary Sidi Yaya Tunis has told Awoko that the party is a law abiding party and they are always making sure that the laws of the party and the country is respected and obeyed at all times. He said the party’s executive tenure must end in October and they have been engaging PPRC and other political organizations on how they can start there lower level elections so that by October they will be able to hold their national convention to choose their new executive.
“We are not relenting on our responsibilities and we are always doing the right thing to keep the party intact. There has been so much in the social media but as an institution the party is not functioning over social media and those that think the party executive will reply over the social media they are wrong. We just want all our members to wait and listen to the party executive as very soon they will hear from us.”
Mr Tunis said that they have been working relentlessly to get things done and people on the outside just think we are not doing anything, no! He said they have done a lot and they will soon come out with releases to the effect. The acting Publicity Secretary said as soon as PPRC and NACOVERC give them the go ahead they will start the lower level elections and they will make sure they go to convention in October as they would not want an overlap of the executive.
“In Port Loko when we went for the new constitution that we were unable to get done due to the court injunction our Chairman and Leader of the Party wanted to step down but the members of the party refused and said he must continue in office until they decide when he must quit. The members of the party want him to lead the party and until they decide otherwise, he will continue to be in charge of the APC.” Sidi Tunis said they are working with all parties concern to make sure that court cases and other intra party affairs are settled amicably so that all parties will be satisfied and peace will reign before going to convention.
He made it very clear that APC is an institution that belongs to all members of the party and they must all come together to work for the party and kick out all the differences that will bring more problems. He said a united party will bring success in 2023 and said he is appealing to all to see reason to bring unity because unity is strength.
