Following the high number of void or invalid votes during the August 11 polls, the All People’s Congress (APC)’s leadership in Makeni has mounted a serious campaign, aimed at forestalling void votes in the September 8 presidential run-off.
Party officials say they are intensifying the voters’ education campaign so as to enhance a landslide victory for their party.
“We know that Makeni people are for the APC, what we are doing now is to focus our attention on voters’ education,” said Wilfred Yamba Kargbo, the APC head of the voters’ education campaign in Makeni.
It has been a week now since APC youth groups in Makeni have mobilized themselves, targeting their supporters on the outskirts of that city.
At the town market and the business centre of Rogbaneh Road including the Makeni Lorry Park, APC youths are now moving on a daily to educate petty traders, drivers, and people from different walks of life on how to vote properly.
On the issue of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC)’s alliance with the APC, Sinneh Gabriel Saidu Bangura boasted that, “with that alliance Hon. Ernest Bai Koroma is now poised for total victory against Solomon Berewa”.
