The Secretary General of the main SLPP Opposition Jacob Jusu Saffa has accused the ruling APC of spending big time synonymous of past APC rule under late Siaka Stevens and that of late President Momoh both of whom he stated wrecked the Economy; an accusation this Government has always dismissed saying this is a new APC.
Speaking to Awoko a day after the handing over of the new Ministers of Government in Bo, Kenema and Pujehun the Opposition Scribe referred to the very handing over as a waste of resources for the trip to and from those places involving long Presidential entourage in newly acquired brand new Jeeps.
Jacob Jusu Saffa further described the Cabinet before and after the last Cabinet reshuffle as still Northern dominated and also accused the President of picking amongst the SLPP membership when in fact there are competent APC members for such Positions; an argument that has now been debunked by the ruling APC saying it is a way of opening up to the rest of the regions with the view of closing the much talked about tribal gap.
Speaking further the SLPP Scribe said that the Government is currently being run on a deficit budget as a result of excess expenditure and further expressed the fear that the Economy will stand to suffer with the lined up of activities marking the upcoming of 50 years Independence Anniversary celebrations as was the case after hosting the then Organisation of Africa Unity (OAU) summit held in 1980.
