The ruling APC party has once more come under accusation of political campaigning well ahead of the NEC stipulated time for the 2012 tripartite elections slated for November 17th 2012.
This accusation came few days ahead of the lifting up of the Police ban on political activities which was reportedly occasioned by the recent riot in Bo during which a bike rider was shot dead with nineteen others wounded.
Making the accusation the SLPP member of Parliament for constituency 75 Hon. Elizabeth Alpha Lavalie accused the national Coordinator of “De Pa E Eye”, Hon. Legacy Sannoh of carrying out full scale political campaign in broad day light on Saturday 11th December, 2011 during which supporters of the APC dressed in their red party colours staged a dance within Jimmi Town the Chiefdom headquarter Town of Bargbo Chiefdom which together with Lugbu Chiefdom make up constituency 75 in the Bo District.
Explaining further Hon. Elizabeth Alpha Lavallie argued that it is wrong for any political party to openly stage any full time campaign as was the case of “De Pa E Eye” a support group of the second term agenda of President as the time table for the entire General Election is yet to be prepared and therefore suggested that the act is designed to put the cart before the horse as a way of behaving as a desperate plan to win the election at all cost.
She called on the relevant authorities to bring the perpetrator to book with the view of observing a free and fair election adding that such practices can lead to tension and violence.
The SLPP member of Parliament in turn recalled such incidence in the recent past when she was allegedly assaulted by one Councilor Aruna of the ruling APC,
A complaint was made but nothing has been done since noting that not withstanding the fact that the APC National Scribe Victor Bockarie Foh comes from the same constituency 75.
Responding to the accusation Hon. Legacy Sankoh admitted visiting Jimmi Bargbo in his capacity as the National Coordinator of De Pa E Eye but that the association is not a political party and it is no crime to tell the people of this nation the good work of the President and they will continue to showcase him.
Hon. Legacy Sankoh promised to continue to showcase the good work of the Head of State and further called on all well meaning Sierra Leoneans to go along with the President for the second term.
Hon. Sankoh used the opportunity to state that he is still a founding member of the PMDC but an active admirer of the President.
He disclosed that he is now the newly appointed Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee of the Ministry of Energy and Power and further reassured that all will be done to avert electricity blackout this Dry season.
Speaking to Awoko News on the matter the regional PPRC Chairman South Jeneh Smith expressed shock at the development and said her office is yet to be officially informed of the matter, indicating that PPRC will not condone anything that has the tendency to cause trouble and affect the peaceful conduct of the elections.
