In an exclusive interview after receiving the news, AOT thanked the SLFA leadership and technical committee for appointing him to serve as TM, though he is not surprised as he has served in many football administrative positions to promote the game. He said he is still the vice chairman of the Port Loko Football Association and has keen leadership roles at Lunsar FC and Marampa Stars where he rose to the ranks of welfare officer, team secretary, and TM for six years.
Turay said during his tenure, Marampa Stars participated in two national playoffs and was third at the Leocem National FA Cup. AOT said he also took Marampa Stars to the prestigious Ernest Bai Koroma Trophy and was runners up for four seasons and champions for two.
In addition he said he actively participates in football activities at both district and national levels. He promised to provide good leadership in his efforts to promote young football players across the nation “with maximum force to fly the banner high”.
