One of Sierra Leone’s prolific attackers – Mamadu Bah (Alphajor) who excelled in their last two matches in the 2010 world cup qualifying series retired from the National team with immediate effect from yesterday.
According to the letter written by Alphajor, he said that since joining the national team in the 90s, he has done his own part for his country and wants to leave to give space to the younger players.
The news was received as a shock to many football fans who watched the match of our darling Leone Stars against their Nigerian opponent in Freetown to see the outstanding performance of Alphajor Bah.
Some of the football fans who spoke to Awoko Sports about the retirement of Alphajor Bah said that he still has something to offer to this nation as he is presently on his peak.
How can he just retire from the National team at this particular moment when the country needed him so much? they asked.
Many football fans and even the Captain Mohamed Kallon has tried his level best to persuade Alphajor not to retire but he has refused.
Another player that is expected to follow suit of Alphajor Bah is Mustapha Sama (Pa Saffa) but it has not been confirmed officially yet by the player.
