According to reliable information reaching Awoko, the chairman of the Premier League Board (PLB) Alpha Timbo should resign his position with immediate effect. The resignation of Alpha Timbo has been raised by the some of the Premier League clubs on the grounds that he wants to contest the leadership of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party.
Article 3(1) of the SLFA constitution stated about neutrality and non discrimination, of members in the SLFA, must be neutral in matters of politics and religion to avoid any conflict of interest. The club officials according to Article 3(1) will ask Alpha Timbo to resign even though the mandate of the board will come to an end this June when the league ends.
If Alpha Timbo fail to resign, they will force him to do so that is why the board over the past months cannot leave up to the expectation a club official said.
Reports reaching this press state that the Premier League Board is in disarray that is why most of the decision taken by the board is done unilaterally by the Executive Secretary Saidu Mansaray, sometimes by Pa Greene.
In the last decision taken against some officials of premier league clubs, member of the board told Awoko that they are not aware of such decision.
During the first term of the board, they were able to leave up to expectation because most of the members were committed to the board but this second term there has been serious lapses in the board which also affect the poor turnout of football fans in matches. Alhaji Mohamed Nabie is expected to become the next Premier League Board chairman when Alpha Timbo steps down, by then he would have resigned from East End Lions as chairman for the club to take up his new appointment.
