A resident of Grafton Village, Eddie Tunde Williams who is alleged to have murdered Joseph Ibrahim Foday (a Journalist), was yesterday remanded in prison custody at Pademba Road, by Magistrate Komba Kamanda of the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 2.
The accused faces one count charge of murder, contrary to law, while the matter is being prosecuted by the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Raymond Binneh Dunia.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused, Eddie Tunde Williams on 12th July 2011 at Bush Town Grafton village in the Western Rural Community murdered one Joseph Ibrahim Foday, who was a print media journalist reporting for the Exclusive Newspaper, a local tabloid in the country.
After the court clerk had read the charges to the accused who was not represented by any legal practitioner in this first appearance, ASP Dunia, told the court that at the time when the matter was charged to court, the witnesses were not informed, and as a result, they were unable to make it to court to give evidence, but maintained that on the next adjourned date, the prosecution will start proceeding with its witnesses
The matter was adjourned to November 14 this year.
The accused person was reported to be at large since the time of the incident which happened at Grafton, but was apprehended last week in Tonkolili, during the campaign rally of the All People Congress (APC) in the said district.
