Some residents of the Low-cost Housing Estate at Kissy at the past weekend alleged that witchcraft is being practiced in their community.
This allegation has been causing sleepless nights for many in the vicinity as youths frequently parade the streets at night loudly using abusive language and other obnoxious obscenities.
It all started one morning when a man (name withheld by AWOKO) and members of his family alleged that certain individuals within the community are responsible for their ailments and misfortunes through the art of witchcraft.
The man alleged that a maid in his house had confessed quite recently that all the domestic and external problems he has been encountering were as a result of witchcraft in his life, adding that even his daughter’s persistent problems and academic deterrents are enshrouded in witchcraft.
He further alleged that his wife who is presently bedridden is being bewitched by close door witches and wizards who are constantly parading his premise, inflicting bad omens and hardship.
He stated that the maid said almost all the youths, innocent children and the like are under witchcraft hegemony. ( “Den don bab all den yut en pikin dem na de area”) which means They have all the youths and children under their control.
He added that human particles from unknown individuals are placed in a certain witch-pot, which he alleged, is as a result of perpetual idleness and constant setback among the youth population in the community.
However, the situation is gradually gaining momentum as aggrieved members hired witchcraft doctors to unearth those responsible for the mischievous acts and provide solution.
