The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports is now set for this year’s Inter-Secondary School games which are expected to start next week in different venues in the country.
In Freetown, the Western Area Competitions in football and Volleyball would start on Monday 27th October at the National Stadium practicing field.
The competition falls within the annual events of the Physical and Health Education Department of the Ministry of Education to tap talents and also provide the needed recreation for pupils, thereby giving them the opportunity to meet new friends from other schools.
In order to ensure a successful competition, the Ministry organized a three day workshop on the negative impact of violence at schools competition.
During this workshop, the Deputy Minister (1) of Education Youth and Sports, Dr Algassium Jah who represented the Minister at the opening session, spoke of Government’s determination to deal firmly with school pupils who disrupt this year’s sports meeting.
A Task Force has been set up in collaboration with the Green Scenery –a local Non- Governmental Organization for the success of the competition.
