The President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Henry Moore has told Awoko Sports that all NOC in the world must operate without any interference from outside.
This disclosure was made during the just concluded Olympic Solidarity Forum in Tanzania as he was part of the discussion.
President Moore further stated that even though all NOC are autonomous, they need to help government for the development for sports in their various countries.
When asked where NOCs gets their funding from to help in the development of sports, President Moore said that their funding comes from the Olympic Solidarity and in some cases from the Commonwealth Games Federation which they used to support associations under the NOC. President Moore stated that during the Forum they also discussed the way how to solve dispute and also the importance of accountability within the NOCs.
He said during the forum they were able to have four main areas of discussion and after these discussions they were divided into groups to have further discussion on these topics.
He further stated that this forum in Tanzania was for English speaking countries and 25 countries were present with 2 representatives each which make the total of 25 participants that participated in the forum.
During the Forum they also have lectures from members of IOC and President Moore also appealed to colleagues in the NOC that they should come together to develop their various NOCs.
