Sierra Leone: On Saturday 10th April, 2021 membership of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) at constituency 125 unanimously elected Alhaji Komba to serve as the party’s constituency chairman for the next three years.

The elections which took place at the Arch Community Center in Freetown bestowed power in ten members of the constituency to steer the ship of the party in that part of the country for the next years.

Komba said he won the elections after all the one hundred and thirty five (135) eligible voters voted for him and he was declared by the district returning officer as unopposed.

Komba said he only had perceived opponents of which one of them came into the hall but later left before the election process commenced – “one of them, Jonathan Johnson congratulated me after the entire process.”

He said the campaign process was peaceful and the election was conducted transparently with the outgone chairman ensuring that all members take part in the electioneering process with a free mind.

“We went into the elections with the notion that we are all SLPP at the end of the day and whosoever wins or lose needs the other person to win the next election against the other political parties. All of us shared the same ideology and agenda,” he pointed out.

Komba said his immediate plan is to ensure that the party consolidates its stay in power and “if that should happen we need to generate that strength from the communities and being the chairman I am going to make sure that the party is alive with party activities.”
