One of the subs last Wednesday night for Blackpool Al Bangura, signed on a non-contract basis on the day of the game.
Whether he’s just making up the numbers a little like Adam Nowland and Mark Hudson were or is part of Holloway’s long-term plans remains to be seen.
“We signed Bangura on the day to give us six on the bench. Jay Thomas luckily signed so we could get him out there,” added the boss.
“I am driving everywhere. I watched a game on Monday and I’m watching another one tonight because I’ve got to vet these people and see them myself. I am trying to catch up as much as I can but it is very difficult when you need all sorts of positions.
“Charlie Adam went up to Scotland and back for a funeral yesterday and that was important for him. He looked tired during the game.
“Vaughan has ripped a piece of bone off his toe but still wants to play. He said he was fit, I ain’t so sure.
“At the end of the day I can’t ask for much more. They are giving me everything.
“But we are still short of a few we borrowed last year.
“Some of the lads we’ve got don’t even know each other yet. Jay Thomas hadn’t trained with us prior to kick-off.
“I don’t want to make excuses but we are a little bit blotchy, a little bit in and out.
