Sierra Leonean born musical maestro based in Canada and the United States of America Di’Ja is presently in the country to open the Akon show with a bang at the National Stadium main bowl to celebrate Sierra Leone’s 49th independence anniversary tomorrow.
Hadiza Blell aka Di’Ja the Commercial Pop Artist is in the country on the invitation of All Works of Life (AWOL) in collaboration with the Gibril Wilson foundation to show case local and international talents as a means to lure potential investors.
She told Awoko in an interview that “I want to use music to promote health care particularly Malaria campaign – additionally to speak to my people about development of the country.”
Hadiza Blell expressed her enthusiasm, commitment and determination to support talented female artists by developing and empowering the female voice in the Sierra Leone music industry.
She also expressed determination to thrill the audience at the National Stadium by singing some of her songs like Rock Steady which was rated top in the Canadian Radio New Artist of the year and a couple of other songs.
Hadiza Blell aka Di’Ja is pursuing her degrees in Biochemistry and psychology. She is also involved in writing poems and songs, music is part of her life she told this reporter.
Her success is as a result of the support of her Father Joe Blell, former deputy defence Minister in Sierra Leone and her Nigerian born Mother Asma’u Blell and brother Farid Blell who has been a driving force in the growth of both her music and studies.

The Akon show is expected to attract thousands of Sierra Leoneans at the National Stadium to celebrate the 49th independence anniversary celebration in Sierra Leone both local and international artists are expected to show case their talents.
Di’Ja’s music has taken the Canadian Airwaves by storm – it has also been played on Sierra Leonean radios and she is definitely a great candidate to open for the Akon concert on the 27th of April. By Saidu Bah
