
The Akibo Betts Junior Secondary at Tower Hill in Freetown could now breathe a sigh of relief, as after series of publications on their plight, the school could now boast of a newly constructed three (3) class room block, a staff room and a computer, to be commissioned soon.
The Principal of Akibo Betts Junior Secondary School, Edward Fofi Kawa said that, the Freetown City Council Education Department has completed a three (3) class room project to accommodate the growing number of pupils in the school and a staff room for teachers.
He intimated that, the Freetown City Council also donated a desk top computer and its accessories to the school administration; to document all school records and other activities undertaken by the school, to ease their constraints in filing school documents and preparing report cards.
He maintained that, a new staff room block is currently under construction and is close to completion to accommodate the Principal, Bursar, Secretary and Teachers, and would be equipped with chairs and tables for the smooth running of the school administration.
Principal Kawa expressed gratitude to the Freetown City Council Educational Department for their numerous contributions in providing learning materials, school subsidies and technical support for the day to day running of the school.
He also commended the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) for their support and good relationship with the school and their pupils, adding that the school administration usually meet, to discuss relevant issues affecting the school and work out solution to overcome their challenges.
The Principal also noted that the school administration is implementing all regulations and policies of the Ministry of Education, especially with regard the issue of extra charges.
He promised to utilize the facilities for the intending purpose so that they could provide quality education to deserving pupils.
