The promotion started as a Christmas package for subscribers in the country, but it has transformed itself to a New blessing for Sierra Leoneans.
The sixth weekly draw of the airtel surprise promotion was staged live in Bo Town on the 22 January 2011 in the presence of journalists, stakeholders and host of viewers. 15 subscribers took home attractive prizes ranging from air time, phones, cash prizes, shopping voucher and the surprise package for the week which was an airtel phone with one year top up (2,000 units per month).
Subscribers with 500 units accumulated during the week or three airtel unlimited enrolments will as well qualify to be part of the weekly draw. A total top up of 4,000 units will give subscribers the chance to win the grand prize of Le40 million Leones.
Other attractive prizes include; dining room set, 32 inches LCD TV, Fridge/Freezer/Microwave/2.5kva Generator, air ticket + $400 (to Gambia/Ghana), 3 months salary worth 1 million Leones for each month, two shopping/gift vouchers worth Le800,000 each which you could use in any Supermarket/Stores, Boutique, Building material stores, Spare parts of your choice etc, one year Scholarship worth Le3millon of any institution of your choice in Sierra Leone, brand new Laptop/Desktop computer, cash prizes etc. This promotion started on the 10th December and will last until 30th January 2011.

This promotion allows subscribers to use their air time judiciously while sending a blank SMS to any short code and at the end stand a chance of winning attractive prizes. The grand draw will be staged live at Lumley Beach in Freetown. The grand draw will also see another set of winners ranging from the surprise prize for the promotion which is Le40m, shopping gift voucher worth Le2m and a host of other attractive prizes. The company is planning to reward viewers on that day as the first 50 viewers will be rewarded each with 50 units’ worth of air time or airtel T-shirt or airtel hat.
