The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police East Sorie Kargbo has said that the security situation at the moment in the Eastern region is calm and cool. He made this statement during a press briefing held at the Police Regional Office in Kenema.
He said at the time he took over the mantle of leadership as AIG East he met several security lapses in the region such as frequent house and shop breaking, pick pocketing and snatching of mobile phones among others.
He said he organised a crack squad in the region headed by the operations officer and the head of the OSD in the division.
Since then the security situation has been drastically reduced to the lowest level. He assured all to go about their normal business as there is no cause for alarm.
He appealed to all to continue to give vital information to the security forces and authorities within their reach in order to enhance prompt action and development in the region.
He said as Regional Commander he paid a four days tour of 11 Chiefdoms in the Kailahun District sometime last year and will visit the other three Chiefdoms later.
AIG Kargbo also said he held meetings with his personnel in Daru and Kailahun Divisions in the District, Paramount Chiefs, women’s groups, youths and other stakeholders in the Kailahun District. He revealed that the relationship between his personnel and the community is very cordial citing instances of the Local Policing Partnership Board (LPPB) which has reached Chiefdom level.
He also stated that during his tour he paid a visit to the disputed area of Nyenga on the border with Guinea.
