Former Leone Stars coach Ahmed Kanu who was also the coach of FC Kallon was expected to depart yesterday for Belgium to undergo a coaching course.
Ahmed Kanu has seen improvements in the FIFA rankings of the National Team Leone Stars since he started coaching the team.
He disclosed that he is planning to do more for this country that is why he has decided to pursue a higher coaching course that will put him in good stead for the future.
The World governing body for football (FIFA) has indicated that before any individual handles the national team or a premier club team that individual must be a level A coach.
That may likely be why Ahmed Kanu who has expressed the desire to make coaching his career is going all out to do a course in coaching.
Going by the dictates of FIFA only three coaches in the country are qualified to handle the National team or premier clubs. These are Christian Cole, Jebboh Sherrington and Obi Metzger who are not only level A coaches but also instructors.
With the exit of Ahmed Kanu, FC Kallon now has to fill the position of coach with only about three weeks to the start of a new league season.
Several names have been mooted like Derrick Boison, Charlie Wright and John Ajina Sesay. It is now left with the executive of the team to decide who to appoint as time is no more on their side to prepare for the league.
